When I think of the OGX, the first thing that comes to mind is hair products. I’ve been a fan of the brand’s Extra Strength Argan Oil of Morroco collection for a long time — especially the shampoo and conditioner, which rely on argan oil (obviously) and silk amino acids for a super-softening and repairing effect. Somehow, I totally missed that there’s a body-wash spinoff of this collection. And perhaps Amazon shoppers also didn’t realize Extra Hydrating Argan Oil of Morroco Body Wash existed until this weekend, either, because there was nothing short of a run on the product.
According to Amazon’s Movers & Shakers sales tracker, sometime between Saturday, February 15, and Sunday, February 16, sales of OGX Extra Hydrating Argan Oil of Morroco Body Wash jumped up an incredible 10,000 percent. Previously ranked 405th in the retailer’s Beauty & Personal Care category, this surge put it at fourth among all the pampering products and made it the number-one best-seller in the Bath & Shower Gels category.
There are a lot of reasons to love this body wash, starting, of course, with the effectiveness of its star ingredients. Both argan oil and silk amino acids have long been in body- and hair-care formulas promising strength and softness. It also smells incredible, according to many of the more than 120 five-star reviews it has received from Amazon shoppers. “Leaves my skin feeling very silky smooth. Smells great and no residue,” one person wrote. Another said, “I really love the way it makes my skin feel. The best part is it feels very moisturizing and smells so good, makes my skin feel healthier after a shower.”
But perhaps the biggest factor driving this jump in sales is the fact that Amazon charges only $3 for it. (Not that it’s very pricy elsewhere — a quick check of other retailers that carry it shows that stores like Target and Walgreens sell it for no more than $7.)
Regardless of whether or not it stays queen of the body-wash category on Amazon, it’s clearly worthy of its recent upswing in popularity — and of a spot in your shower.
