On any given day, Kim Kardashian West stands at a petite five foot three — the second-shortest among her sisters. She’s known to wear some rather tall heels that boost her up a couple of inches, but nothing has ever made the beauty mogul and reality star seem so tall as the gravity-defying hairstyle she’s wearing on the cover the new issue of CR Fashion Book.
On Tuesday, February 26, Kardashian West shared a multi-photo post to her Instagram grid showing her cover and two other shots from the spread. In the black-and-white photos, she’s seen with dark hair that’s as high as it is long — the bouffant style is teased well over half a foot above her scalp in a very retro, 1960s style.
“Priscilla Presley Vibes,” Kardashian West said in the caption, referring not only to the hairstyle created by stylist Shaya Shual, but also the dark, dramatic, winged eye makeup applied by Rokael Lizama.
In addition to some of the photos that went to print, Kardashian West also shared some behind-the-scenes selfie videos from the January shoot on her Instagram Stories, revealing a full-color look at the voluminous hairstyle. “I love this shoot. I’m shooting with my idol today,” she said before posing.
Kardashian West isn’t the only one wearing a bouffant for CR Fashion Book. As she mentioned, she was shooting with her idol, and she’s joined in the photos by none other than the legendary Cher and iconic Naomi Campbell. Campbell’s bouffant is quite similar to Kardashian West’s, while Cher’s is a bit wavier and features heavy bangs framed by a cheekbone-skimming framing layer.
Considering how influential all three women are, this could very well mark the triumphant resurgence of towering, teased hairstyles. And we’re here for it.
